Home Insurance Company Scandal

The Home Insurance Company, of Columbus, Ohio, which was dissolved by decree of the Court of Common Pleas of Franklin county, on the 25th day of January, 1883, in pursuance of proceedings instituted by the department in compliance with the requirements of law, immediately upon determining that the condition of the company was that of hopeless insolvency, by an examination which was conluced on the 19th day of July, 1882. The devices of the President of the company to delay and hinder the making of an examination have seldom been excelled in artfulness.
