Green - Hall wedding

From the 'Daily Ohio State Journal,' Oct. 5, 1888, p. 8:

First Congregational Church the Scene of a Beautiful Wedding

First congregatinoal church was last evening the scene of a brilliant wedding in the nuptials of Miss Stella K. Hall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Hall of this city, and Mr. Frederick Green of Cleveland.

The altar and organ gallery were profusely decorated with flowers and potted plants, and it made a most beautiful background for the marriage ceremony.

Some time before 8 o'clock the friends of the bride and groom began to assemble at the church and the gathering was one of the society devotees of the city. At 8 o'clock Professor Ebeling began the wedding march on the great organ and the bridal party entered. The vestibule of the church tower had been reserved by draperies for this party and it entered from that door, the ushers, Messrs. H.B. Hutchinson, John Taylor, Walter Martin, Harry Holman of Columbus and Mr. Plum Mifflin of North Washington, Pa., preceding. The bridesmaids, Miss Lillian Stevens of Columbus, Miss Thompson of Glendale, Miss Gardner of Cleveland and Miss Baldwin of Clinton, Io., came next.

The bride was accompanied by her father and the immediate family followed. The groom with his best man, Mr. C.R. Gilmore of Columbus, entered from the chapel door and met his bride at the altar. Rev. Dr. Gladden perfomed the marriage ceremony, and in a few moments the couple were pronounced man and wife. The bridal party left the church by the central aisle and east door and a reception was then held for the party at the residence of Mr. Hall.

Mr and Mrs. Green left at midnight for an extended trip and will then take up their residence in Cleveland. The bride is one of the most popular young ladies in Columbus and has always been a leader both in society and in charitable organizations. Mr. Green was formerly private secretary to Governor Hoadly, and in his residence here made a host of warm friends. He and his bride have the congratulations of sincere friends on their union and best wishes for future happiness.

Miss Stevens, one of the bridesmaids, gave a supper Wednesday evening to the bridal party after the rehearsal.
