David C. Ansley, farmer and stock-raiser, was born in Gorham, Ontario
County, N. Y., June 27, 1824, a son of Albert and Prudence (Clark) Ansley,
natives of New York, of English descent. He was reared on a farm, residing
with his parents till manhood. In 1844 he came West and lived in De Kalb
County, Ind., one winter, and then went to Pennsylvania and located in Potter
County, where he engaged in the lumber business eighteen years. In January,
1863, he was married to Elizabeth Ames, daughter of Jacob and Jerusha (Bell)
Ames, a native of Steuben County, N.Y. In 1863 he again came to De Kalb
County, and settled in Fairfield Township, where he has since been successfully
engaged in agricultural pursuits. Mr. Ansley is a member of the Methodist
Episcopal church. In politics he affiliates with the Republican party.
